Snow white a classical tale of poison apples, magic mirrors
and a dashing prince. However, there are many other versions of
Snow White that have these entities and more. In the Grimm version there is poison
apples, magic mirror, a handsome prince and scorching glass slippers. Just like
Disney version the brothers of Grimm incorporates poison apples, but it differs
because not only is apples method to kill the naive Snow White but also combs
and corsets. Snow White accepts these gifts because of her need to be viewed as
beautiful. Disney does not incorporate these same ideas as the Brothers of Grimm
because they didn’t want Snow White to seem vain just like the evil queen.
Another difference between the two versions is how Snow White
met the prince. In the Grim version the prince just so happened to be walking
in the forest and came across Snow White when she was no longer alive in a dead
coffin. While in the Disney version the prince encounters Snow White during the
time she was working near the well and then when he finds out about her death.
Disney changes the way they meet because this is a children movie and kids are going
to think that it okay to marry stranger that you have never seen. Rather than
from marrying a man that you have seen before. In essence, Disney Version of
Snow White was censored to protect young children minds from many various dangers
that could happen if they duplicated Brothers
Grimm version.
