Difference in Snow White

Snow white a classical tale of poison apples, magic mirrors and a dashing prince. However, there are many other versions of Snow White that have these entities and more. In the Grimm version there is poison apples, magic mirror, a handsome prince and scorching glass slippers. Just like Disney version the brothers of Grimm incorporates poison apples, but it differs because not only is apples method to kill the naive Snow White but also combs and corsets. Snow White accepts these gifts because of her need to be viewed as beautiful. Disney does not incorporate these same ideas as the Brothers of Grimm because they didn’t want Snow White to seem vain just like the evil queen.

Another difference between the two versions is how Snow White met the prince. In the Grim version the prince just so happened to be walking in the forest and came across Snow White when she was no longer alive in a dead coffin. While in the Disney version the prince encounters Snow White during the time she was working near the well and then when he finds out about her death. Disney changes the way they meet because this is a children movie and kids are going to think that it okay to marry stranger that you have never seen. Rather than from marrying a man that you have seen before. In essence, Disney Version of Snow White was censored to protect young children minds from many various dangers that could happen if they duplicated Brothers Grimm version.

The Reality of Cinderella

Cinderella a tale told by many in various ways with different perspectives ranging from wanting to win a dance competition to being treated fairly. In every version of Cinderella, there is always a rag to riches through marriage, winning some particular competition or getting the dream guy. However, can a person really reach this type of success with magic, and marriage, can that be realistic in today society.

As we all may know magic is not real, but there is a form of magic that we may encounter every day in our lives which is luck. We get lucky and win the lottery, or find thirty dollars on the ground as we are walking. Moreover, with luck, we can have success. In today society luck can take you from a janitor of a company to a vice president of that same company. Just like Cinderella, it was luck that she had a fairy godmother. Not every princess had a fairy godmother to help them with their dress to go to the ball, and marry the prince.

Marriage is matrimony between to loving individual, and in this matrimony, you are entitled to half of your partner' resources. Therefore, if you are to marry someone of high status then you automatically are successful because of who you married. For instance, when Kris Jenner married Robert Kardashian she became more publicly know because of him and his status in society during that time. In addition, Cinderella became successful because she was married to the prince. In summary, a person can reach success through a form of magic and marriage that is seen in today's reality.

The Real Meaning of A Fairytale

Once upon a time, when an individual states these words you automatically go into a world of fairytale with wizards, goblins, trolls talking objects, princess, prince, and many more imaginable characteristics. However, what exactly is a fairytale, what makes a fairytale a fairytale, and how do fairytales contribute to our everyday lives. A fairytale can be defined as many things. In different countries, there is many version of fairytales all over the world. A fairytale can be defined as narratives of magic and fantasy understood as fiction. The word fairytale comes from a French writer named Madam D Aulnoy. That had a collection of fairytales called Conte-de -fee in the 17th century.

In order, for a fairytale to be a fairytale there are distinctive elements that are needed in a fairytale. One of which is a lack of description of the fairytales. There are very few details in the stories we never know where the fairy tales take place, the date, and the environment of the fairy tale. In “Once upon a time on the Nature of Fairy Tales” it references a variance of popular fairytales of various countries around the world all with little to no details in the fairy tales. Another trait that all fairytales must have is magic. In all fairytales, there is a magical creature that points the way to the right path to heroic characters. Snow white allows creatures to lead her to a path that she doesn’t have any knowledge about. She just trusts them to lead her on the correct path without any caution. However, we know that if an animal would lead you anywhere it would be to your death.

Fairy Tales are all around us we live and breathe fairytales. We want our lives to be exactly like a fairytale. We want the prince to carries us up to his enormous castle and showers us with gold and luxuries that we have never seen. With every encounter that we make with the opposite gender, we compare them with that of a prince, and princes. In essence, fairytales can be defined as many things but to me, a fairytale is a fictional narrative that contains magic with a lack of description that is easily persuasive.

The Brother of Grimm Novel VS The Brothers of Grimm Movie

In the Movie "The Brothers Grimm" shows the interesting lives of Jacob and Wilham Grimm and emphasizes their love for folklore and fairytales through, comedy and fiction. Although, the movie is about the Brothers of Grimm when compared with the novel about the brothers Grimm they are some key differences and some elements that were alike. Just like in the Novel The Brothers Grimm the two brothers show a keen interested in anything related to fairytales. However, the way of getting these stories differs. In the novel, it states'' Grimms...selecting tales from old books and recruiting the help of friends and acquaintances...to tell them tales"(Zipes,10). According to the novel, the brothers would get the tales from books or old friends and ask them to recall the tales to them.

On the other hand in the movie "The Brothers Grimm" they would go to different villages and town seeking stories from the villagers. And from those stories, they would create allusion so that it would seem as though they would "defeat" the evil creatures that would terrorize these particular villages. Another difference between the movie and the novel was their differences in personalities when describing the charters. In the novel, Jacob personality is the more outgoing one while Wilham was the reserved one out of the two. Unlike the movie where the roles were reversed where Wilhamm was the outgoing one where Jacob was more reserved. It is also important to note that not only did the movie reverse their personalities but also their ages. Altogether the movie "The Brothers Grimm" and The Brother Grimm has the brothers of Grimm has the same concept with the same tale they have different stories. Some of which is ridiculous and far-fetched from the concepts that were told in the novel. But, they also have their similarities with each other.

My Hopes and Aspiration For my Fys

When choosing Grimm To Disney Fys I am hoping to learn the different aspect of a regular fairy-tales. I want to learn the vile and horrible point of view in folktales that were told to me as a child. And why does Snow White have seven dwarfs why not fifteen or twelve or twenty, why are their names Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneeze. Why not regular names like Tom, or Harold. Furthermore, what made Snow White herself friendly, refined and, gentle. Why didn't her mother death negatively affect her?

Moreover, I am hoping to achieve and understand the backstories of classic fairy tales. I want to know why did these folktales, myths, and legends come about and why did they need to be censored to young children. As I stated before I find it very interesting on why specific facts are the way that they are. One fact that I pointed out was why are their seven dwarfs why not eleven and twelve and so on and so forth. Could it be in relationship with the seven deadly sins because snow white is the future queen of her kingdom and she is supposed to be chosen by God? And the dwarfs could be sins whispering in her ear to do ungodly things. For instances killing her father or giving her stepmother the mirror that drives her crazy.

For these reasons Snow White has to be my favorite fairy tale

out of all the Disney fairy tale that I have watched and or read from my childhood memories. Also, I like Snow White because she was my favorite charter when I would watch the TV show "Once Upon A Time". The character was resilient, graceful and selfless. Even when all the odds were against her she still prevails and conquers her challengers. Much like the character in the book and just like in the book the teach young girls the important message to never give up even when the odds are against you or not in your favor.
